At least ten people were injured on Tuesday after a minibus overturned in the Ghambir Mughlan area of Manjakote, Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, police officials confirmed.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a minibus bearing registration number JK02Q2158 lost control and turned turtle on the road. The mishap triggered immediate rescue efforts by local residents and police personnel, who swiftly reached the site to evacuate the injured.
“All passengers had minor injuries,” a police officer informed reporters at the scene. The victims were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
This incident came a day after another tragic accident in Banihal on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, where a woman lost her life and ten others were injured when a Bolero pickup vehicle carrying a nomadic family crashed into a railway overhead bridge and overturned.
Police identified the deceased as Folla Begum, 75, wife of Mohammad Hassan, a resident of Chack Teryath, Rajouri. The accident involved a rashly driven vehicle bearing registration number JK11F-9882.
Among the injured were: the vehicle’s driver, Mohammad Jammel, son of Mohd Rashid, Rajouri; Rayaz Mohd, 30, son of Hassan, Chack Maithili, Rajouri; Bilal Ahmed, 24, son of Hassan; Shahnaz, 25, wife of Bilal; Nazia, 2, daughter of Bilal Ahmed; Arsha Begum, 63, wife of Mohd Latief; Mohd Iqbal, 30, son of Mohd Latief; Abdul Majid, 40; Muthiar Ahmed, 15; and a 10-year-old boy whose identity has yet to be confirmed. All are reportedly residents of Teryath and nearby villages in Rajouri district.
In a separate road mishap on Monday, two individuals sustained injuries following a motorcycle collision near the Radio Kashmir flyover in Srinagar. The victims received prompt medical attention, courtesy of the Dial 112 police response team, which quickly shifted them to SMHS Hospital.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution as traffic volumes rise across the Union Territory, particularly on narrow and hilly roads prone to such mishaps.
