Security forces have busted an old terrorist hideout in Rajouri district, while Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two persons with arms and ammunition in Srinagar during overnight operations, officials said.
In the first operation, security forces recovered militancy-era material, including IED batteries and binoculars, from the Sara-Simli Gali area in the Darhal belt of Rajouri. The recovery was made during a search operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of police.
The items recovered included five IED batteries, two old backpacks, a binocular, two syringes, shaving blades, and some diary covers. Preliminary investigation suggests that the material belonged to an earlier phase of militancy in the early 1990s.
Separately, the J&K Police arrested two persons along with arms, ammunition, and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) posters during a naka checking in Srinagar. A police team intercepted a bike-borne duo in an inner suburban area and recovered one pistol, three magazines, 21 live rounds, two mobile phones, and 10 LeT posters from their possession.
A case (FIR No. 26/2025) has been registered under relevant sections of the UAPA and the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway. The arrested individuals have been identified as Faisal Ahmad Guroo and Faisal Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Srinagar.
