The Punjab Police on Tuesday said they foiled a terror plot backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) by recovering an RDX-powered bomb and arresting one person in Amritsar.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said initial probe revealed that the arrested accused was in touch with a foreign-based handler acting on the directions of Pakistan-based operatives.
He said the explosive device had been hidden inside a PVC pipe casing to avoid detection.
A case has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell in Amritsar under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, the Arms Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the entire terror network, he added.
