Overnight, a confrontation erupted between militants and security forces in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. 

 

Acting on intelligence about the presence of insurgents, security forces initiated a thorough search operation in the Aragam area of Bandipora late Sunday night.

They said a gunfight broke out as the terrorists opened fire on security forces' positions.

 

"One body has been spotted at the scene of encounter while searches are on to look for more terrorists in the area," they said. According to reports, an unidentified terrorist was killed in the ongoing encounter.
