Third edition of Kerala Film Market opens at IFFK

The third edition of the Kerala Film Market (KFM), an initiative organised by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) as part of the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), commenced here on Sunday.

 

The market, which runs from December 14 to 16 at the South Park Hotel, was inaugurated by Rajan Khobragade, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Kerala. KSFDC Chairman K Madhu presided over the function, with Malayalam filmmaker TV Chandran serving as the chief guest.

 

This third edition of the KFM introduced several expanded segments designed to promote collaboration, learning, and industry growth, including— project market, video library, industry voices and pitchbox.

 

The market features 12 projects and 13 films under the ‘Curator’s Pick’ section.

 

According to a release from the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA), the organisers of IFFK, the market's main objective is to strengthen creative and financial collaborations and enhance Kerala’s presence in the global film marketplace.

 

With participation from filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world, the KFM aims to unlock international commercial opportunities for Malayalam and other regional cinemas.

 

The market is taking place during the 30th edition of IFFK, which runs until December 19th. The festival will screen a total of 206 films from 82 countries, spanning 26 sections, including World Cinema.

 

KSCA Vice Chairperson Cuckoo Parameswaran, KSFDC Managing Director Priyadarshan PS, and Cultural Welfare Fund Board Chairman Madhupal were among the dignitaries present at the inauguration.
