Police have arrested three men for the alleged rape and murder of a 32-year-old woman in Kismathpur, a suburb of Hyderabad. The arrests were made on September 22 following a police investigation into the crime, which occurred on September 14.
According to a release from the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, the victim, who had been missing for three days, was spotted intoxicated near a pillar on September 14. A 33-year-old man lured her into his auto-rickshaw, sexually assaulted her, and then dropped her off at a major crossroads. The woman was then approached by two other auto-rickshaw drivers, aged 25 and 26. They allegedly forced her into their vehicle and drove her to a bridge in Kismathpur, where they raped her. When she resisted, one of them fatally attacked her with sticks before they fled, leaving her body in nearby bushes.
The woman’s body was discovered on September 16 by local residents who alerted the police. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police verified the CCTV footage after which they arrested all the three accused from different locations.
