The Himachal Pradesh government has dismissed three college professors in separate cases involving allegations of molestation and harassment of female students, officials said on Thursday.
State Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar ordered the termination of the three teachers, terming the action a strict step towards ensuring student safety and accountability in educational institutions.
According to official orders, Assistant Professor (Chemistry) Dr Siddharth Government College, Nadaun, Anil Kumar was dismissed from service with immediate effect. The dismissal will also disqualify him from future government employment as per applicable rules.
In another case, Assistant Professor Pawan of Jawaharlal Nehru Government College of Fine Arts, Shimla, was removed from service following findings related to sexual harassment allegations.
Similarly, Dr Virender Sharma, Assistant Professor (Mathematics) at Government College, Teesa, was also dismissed with immediate effect in connection with a harassment case.
Officials said the action reflects the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct involving students. The education department reiterated that strict disciplinary measures will be taken against any teacher or employee found involved in such cases in the future.
