The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has empanelled six senior IPS officers of the AGMUT cadre for appointment to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP), including three officers from the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir.
The officers whose names have been cleared are Rajesh Kumar, Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, Satish Sriramaji Khandare, Tsewang Namgyal Kalon, David Lalrinsanga and Rajesh Khandare.
As per the empanelment list, Dr Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, Rajesh Kumar and Tsewang Namgyal Kalon belong to the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir segment of the AGMUT cadre.
Official sources said the empanelment paves the way for these officers to be considered for DGP-level appointments in different Union Territories and organisations under the AGMUT cadre.
The decision, based on the recommendations of the competent authority, recognises the officers’ distinguished service records and vast experience in policing and administration.
The development is being seen as a significant milestone for officers from the J&K segment, many of whom have served in key assignments in the Union Territory.
