Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Verma has initiated disciplinary action against officials of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) following surprise inspections in Rajendra Nagar, Kanhaiya Nagar and Ashok Vihar zones.

 

On Thursday a surprise inspection was conducted by the minister in these areas upon receipt of some complaints as a result of which this action was taken . The minister also suspended the revenue officers of the three zones, along with the assistant sub-officer of Kanhaiya Nagar.The Zonal Revenue Officers (ZROs) of all three areas, along with the Assistant Sub Officer (ASO) of Kanhaiya Nagar, were suspended after several public complaints pointed to administrative irregularities, delays in grievance redressal and lapses in supervision.

During the inspection, he examined attendance records, complaint registers, and operational procedures to assess compliance with departmental standards.

Based on the findings, immediate administrative action was ordered, and senior officials were directed to begin departmental proceedings to fix responsibility and ensure corrective steps.Addressing officials, the Minister said public offices must operate with discipline, responsibility and transparency, warning that any lapse in duty would invite strict action.

 

“Every officer will be answerable for the area under their charge and for the quality of public service delivered. Accountability is non-negotiable,” Verma said.He added that no negligence in supervision or service standards would be tolerated.Officials said that replacement officers have been instructed to take charge immediately to ensure uninterrupted functioning in the affected zones.
