Three killed as ambulance plunges into gorge in Una

An ambulance fell into a deep gorge in Una district early Saturday.


Three people lost their lives and two others were injured after an ambulance fell into a deep gorge in Una district early Saturday.

 

The private ambulance was carrying a patient and his family members from Jassur in Kangra district. They were on their way to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana after being referred from Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital, Tanda.

 

The accident took place near Manghuwall, ahead of Gagret, when the driver lost control of the vehicle while taking a sharp turn. The ambulance slipped off the road and fell into the gorge.

 

Three people, including the patient, died on the spot. Two others were seriously injured and taken to Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur for treatment.

 

The deceased were identified as Sanjeev Kumar Pathiyar, Omkar Chand and Ramesh Chand, all from Pathiyar village in Nagrota Bagwan tehsil, Kangra district.

 

The injured are Renu Bala and the driver, Bobby. Doctors said their condition is stable. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the accident.
