At least three Indian Army soldiers were injured in an encounter with terrorists in Dolgam village of Kishtwar district as the operation continued on its second day, Sunday. Officials said two to three Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives were trapped inside the cordon laid by security forces in the village.
The encounter broke out after security forces re-established contact with the hiding terrorists in the early morning hours of Saturday, as the search operation TRASHI-I continued.
This is the fourth time security forces have engaged the terrorists, who have evaded capture since the operation began in the district on January 18.
The Jammu-based White Knight Corps posted on X, “During the ongoing joint Operation TRASHI-I, contact with terrorists was re-established in the early hours of 31 Jan 2026, in the general area of Dolgam by troops of #WhiteKnightCorps, @jmukmrpolice and #CRPF. Intelligence sources have been directed to provide inputs to execute the operation on the ground. A cordon has been established and strengthened with further reinforcements,” it added.
Exchange of fire continued on Sunday between the terrorists and security forces in Dolgam village, officials said.
The group is believed to consist of three highly trained terrorists skilled in mountainous and jungle warfare, having escaped the cordon on at least three previous occasions between January 18 and January 27. Security forces first engaged the group in Chatroo forests, and the latest confrontation is taking place in the Dolgam area.
So far, one Para Special Forces personnel was killed, and seven others were injured during the first exchange on January 18. Three more security personnel have been injured in the latest exchange, taking the total to ten as of Sunday morning.
Later, the White Knight Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldier on X: “The GOC, White Knight Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Havildar Gajendra Singh of the Special Forces, who made the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a Counter Terrorism operation in the Singpura area during the ongoing Operation TRASHI-I on the night of 19 Jan 2026.
