Tipra Motha MLA Union Home Minister Amit Shaha has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to establish a committee aimed at identifying illegal immigrants in Tripura and facilitating their deportation.

In a letter sent on Saturday, Debbarma raised concerns over a significant influx of Bangladeshi nationals from the Chittagong hill tracts, who he claims are residing in several areas within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Debbarma specifically mentioned regions such as Chawmanu and Gandacherra in Dhalai district, as well as Karbook and Silcherri in Gumati district, asserting that the presence of these foreign nationals poses a security threat to the nation.

He highlighted the increasing infiltration over the past few months, attributing it to a "weak security system" along the Indo-Bangla border.

The MLA further warned that Rohingya refugees have also reportedly entered Indian territory through Tripura, exacerbating the security risks.

In his letter, Debbarma urged Shah to form a high-powered committee that would include civil, police, and judicial officers to effectively identify and deport individuals who have entered Tripura illegally.
