YSRCP MP Maddila Gurumoorthy has called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday to order a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into the 'Tirumala Parakamani controversy', arguing that it is a politically motivated attempt to undermine the faith of millions of Hindus.

In a letter to the Home Minister, the Tirupati MP alleged that the state government has been making unsubstantiated claims of theft and misuse of temple offerings at Tirumala, despite an absence of credible evidence. He contended that these allegations are "deeply damaging to the sanctity of the institution" and are an attempt to exploit religion for partisan gain.

The MP argued that the Tirumala temple, revered as the holiest seat of Lord Venkateswara by over a billion Hindus, is a sacred embodiment of their faith. He stated that undermining the sanctity of such a revered institution through "fabricated narratives" is creating unrest among devotees.

He, further, contended that the state government's actions run contrary to the Constitution’s principle of secularism and represent a deliberate "political vendetta" that threatens public order and weakens trust in democratic governance.

Gurumoorthy has, henceforth, requested Amit Shah’s "urgent and personal intervention" to order a transparent CBI investigation that he says will "safeguard the sanctity of Tirumala."

In a separate letter, he has also requested Supreme Court Chief Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai to constitute a judicial commission, headed by a sitting judge, to probe the matter.
