West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered major injury in an accident. She has been taken to a government hospital.
“Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” the party posted on X along with pictures of Banerjee bleeding from her forehead.
According to sources, she was admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. TMC national general secretary and Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee got her admitted to the hospital.
The TMC supremo underwent a few stitches and medical tests. Doctors found her stable to be discharged. She was then taken back home.
The 69-year-old leader had a fall inside her Kalighat home in south Kolkata after she returned after attending a programme, her family said.
State BJP president Sukanta Majumdar wished her a speedy recovery.
"Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health," he posted on X.
The incident has taken place at the wake of West Bengal politics being heated with the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation conducting probe in the Sandeshkhali incident.
Additionally, TMC leader Arjun Singh has confirmed his return to the BJP and has simultaneously named state minister Partha Bhowmick being involved in shielding Sandeshkhali prime accused, Shahjahan Sheikh.
