The Jammu region has recorded more than 1.47 crore tourists in 2025, including around 12,000 international tourists, who visited various destinations across the region, compared to nearly 2 crore tourists in 2024, officials said on Friday.
The tourism sector in the UT remained impacted throughout the season due to the Pahalgam attack on April 22, followed by Operation Sindoor in May.
Religious tourism destinations, including Mata Vaishno Devi, Shiv Khori shrine, Patnitop, Sanasar, and Bhaderwah, were among the worst hit. A similar trend was observed in the Kashmir Valley in the summer season.
According to official statistics, a total of 14,732,552 tourists, including 12,889 foreigners, visited the Jammu region up to December 26, 2025. The data further revealed that 6,368,233 tourists visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
Nearly 965,592 pilgrims visited Shiv Khori in Reasi, while 793,168 tourists explored Patnitop in the Ramban–Udhampur belt. Mansar, spanning Samba and Udhampur, attracted 762,588 visitors, and Suchetgarh in RS Pura in Jammu welcomed 157,753 tourists.
Chichi Mata in Samba drew 200,945 devotees, Sukrala Mata in Kathua received 258,433, and Mata Bala Sundri, also in Kathua, saw 20,939 devotees.
The Ziarat Shahdara Sharief shrine in Rajouri hosted 1,330,512 pilgrims, while Sain Miran Sahib in Poonch had 566,814 visitors and Nangli Sahib in Poonch attracted 50,487.
Bhaderwah in Doda welcomed 274,175 visitors, including one foreign tourist, while Baba Chamliyal in Samba recorded 209,768 pilgrims.
Other notable sites included Purmandal in Samba with 76,425 visitors, Utterbehni in Samba with 83,352, and Banihal in Ramban with 128,713 tourists.
Sanasar in Ramban drew 431,582 tourists, Surinsar in Jammu recorded 181,023, and the Paddar–Machail region in Kishtwar attracted 316,517 visitors.
Kishtwar itself saw 137,017 tourists, Jhiri in Jammu hosted 969,659 visitors, Pancheri in Udhampur received 110,487 tourists, and Sudh Mahadev in Udhampur welcomed 138,953 pilgrims. Tatta Pani in Ramban attracted 81,098 visitors, including three foreigners, while Budha Amarnath in Poonch had 52,227 pilgrims.
Smaller sites such as Dera Ki Gali in Rajouri drew16,687 visitors, Loran and the Seven Lakes in Poonch received 29,309, Ranjit Sagar Lake in Kathua had 16,554 tourists, and Baradari in Reasi welcomed 3,542 visitors.
In 2024, while 23,590,081 tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu received 20,091,379, and Kashmir 3,498,702. The number of foreign tourists has also increased in recent years.
