Tourists pay respects to Pahalgam victims at memorial

Tourists have appreciated the government’s initiative, calling it a meaningful and much-needed tribute to those who were killed by terrorists. One of the tourists paying tributes to the victims said that there is no fear, and people should not be afraid of visiting the place.

Tourist pay tribute to those who lost their lives in April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.


Tourists visiting Pahalgam are paying their respects to those killed during the April 22 Pahalgam attack at a memorial built in memory of the 26 victims. The memorial, situated close to the popular destination, has become a place of remembrance where visitors offer floral tributes and pray for the victims.


Those visiting the place have made it a point to stop at the memorial, shower flowers and pay their respects to the victims.

 

Tourists have appreciated the government’s initiative, calling it a meaningful and much-needed tribute to those who were killed by terrorists. One of the tourists paying tributes to the victims said that there is no fear, and people should not be afraid of visiting the place.


He said, "I urge people to visit this place again and not carry the notion that attacks happen here all the time. I am a traveller myself, and I can say that the area is now well secured. There are adequate security measures in place, and people should have faith in the Indian Army.”

 

While others present at the site expressed confidence in the prevailing security arrangements.

 

"We are also tourists and came here as a group of four. If there had been any danger, we would not have visited. The security arrangements here are good. We also came to see the memorial built for the tourists who lost their lives in the terror attack," another tourist added.

 

Meanwhile, on April 22, terrorists gunned down 26 people, mostly tourists, in the picturesque Baisaran valley of the famous tourist destination in Pahalgam.
In response, India launched Op Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist camps located inside Pakistan.
