Tribals, dalits, poor are the country's priority: PM Modi

PM Modi flags of six Vande Bharat Express trains, inaugurates new railway projects in Jharkhand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the development of tribals, poor, dalit, backward, women and people from deprived sections of society is the priority of the country.

 

On the occasion of the flagging off ceremony of six Vande Bharat Express trains in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the PM said that there was a time when modern facilities were limited to some states of the country. States like Jharkhand were left behind in terms of modern infrastructure and development.

 

He said that now the thinking and priorities of the country have changed. “Now, the priority of the country is the poor of the country, the priority of the country is the tribals of the country, Dalits, backward, women, deprived, youth, farmers, poor are the priority of the country,” he said.

 

The PM said that  like other states, Jharkhand is also getting high-tech trains like Vande Bharat, modern infrastructure. Today, for rapid development, every state and every city wants trains like Vande Bharat. The six Vande Bharat trains flagged off today will strengthen the economy of the entire region, he added.

 

Notably, PM Modi flagged off six Vande Bharat Express Trains and launched railway projects worth Rs 6000 crore through virtual mode from Ranchi on Sunday.

 

The flagging off ceremony was scheduled at Jamshedpur, but due to bad weather it had to be cancelled. PM’s Road Show at Jamshedpur was also cancelled and he went to Jamshedpur to address a rally by road.

 

The PM, on the occasion said that the new Vande Bharat trains will promote religious tourism, industrial growth and employment opportunities.

 

“Today, many new projects have been started here. For the development of Jharkhand, the Center has also increased investment in the state. The pace of work has also been accelerated. This year, a budget of Rs 7,000 crores has been given for the development of rail infrastructure in Jharkhand,” he said.

 

The PM further said, “Today, the first installment has been released to thousands of beneficiaries of Jharkhand for building permanent houses. A large number of employment opportunities are also being created in villages and cities through PM Awas Yojana.”

 

 

“Since 2014, many big steps have been taken to empower the poor, deprived and tribal families of the country. PM Jan Man Ki Yojana is being run for tribal families across the country including Jharkhand. Through this scheme, efforts are being made to reach the tribes who are far behind. Officials themselves are reaching out to such families to provide them with houses, roads, electricity, water and education,” said the PM.
