A grand ceremony was held at the Birsa Munda Complex in Ulihatu village in Khunti district of Jharkhand to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal revolutionary Birsa Munda and the Jharkhand Foundation Day. The event witnessed the presence of Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that Jharkhand is the land of countless heroes who sacrificed everything to forge a separate state. “Our martyrs showed us the path and made us stronger. It is our duty to build the Jharkhand they dreamed of,” he said.
Soren reiterated his government’s commitment to reaching every village and understanding the challenges of all communities. He said the state government is implementing several flagship schemes keeping the welfare of tribal and indigenous communities at the forefront.
“Our government spends nearly 50 percent of its resources on mothers, sisters, daughters, and the welfare of rural families, farmers, and the poor,” he added.
Soren emphasized that his administration is a “government run from the villages, not just from the state headquarters,” ensuring that welfare schemes reach every household.
Calling Jharkhand a “young state,” now 25 years old, he urged the youth — many of whom were born after the formation of the state — to join in building a stronger future. “Together, we will place Jharkhand among the leading states of the country,” he said.
Soren noted that earlier people had to borrow money for healthcare or education but said the government is working to change such conditions. “We are taking special measures to empower women. Education, healthcare, sports, tourism, employment, and infrastructure development are areas where major initiatives are being rolled out,” he said.
He expressed hope that every household in Jharkhand would prosper and that all citizens would share in the state’s progress. He extended warm wishes on Foundation Day and paid homage to Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The event was attended by MLAs Vikas Singh Munda, Ramsurya Munda, Sudip Gudiya, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Birsa Munda’s descendant Sukhram Munda, senior officials, and a large number of villagers.
