Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Sunday that BJP workers will visit families affected by political violence during the rule of the Left Front (LF) and Congress in the state, with an aim to deliver justice.
Addressing a party event, Saha stressed that these visits would help gather first-hand information on the atrocities committed against political rivals in the past regimes.
The Chief Minister made it clear that his administration would not be lenient towards those guilty of political crimes.
“We are compiling reports on killings and rapes that occurred under the Left Front’s 35-year regime. BJP workers will personally visit each affected family to collect detailed information so that justice can be served,” said Saha.
In his speech, the CM sharply criticised the Left parties, accusing them of providing “bad governance” during their long tenure in power. He further accused the opposition of engaging in "negative politics" to mislead the public, especially in the assembly.
"They make false statements in the assembly just to misguide people, but the BJP will give them a befitting reply,” he added.
Recently, in the state assembly, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman levelled corruption allegations against a cabinet minister and an official.
Saha, however, dismissed such accusations as baseless, suggesting that the opposition parties have little else to offer but negativity.
Saha highlighted the growing strength of the BJP in Tripura, revealing that the party’s membership has exceeded six lakh during its ongoing drive.
“A few members of the opposition hold press meets or stage protests with baseless allegations. What if six lakh BJP members took to the streets? We don’t indulge in negative politics; our focus is on serving the people,” he said.
Reiterating his belief in BJP's national dominance, Saha said, “There will be no substitute for the BJP in India, as we are committed to ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’."
