Tripura's electoral machinery is primed for the second and final phase of elections in the Tripura East parliamentary constituency, assuring voters of a smooth and transparent electoral process.
With 13.96 lakh eligible voters, including 7.02 lakh males, 6.94 lakh females, and 13 transgender individuals, the constituency braces for a crucial democratic exercise.
Notably, a significant portion of the electorate comprises 38,245 voters aged 18-19 years, 4,678 service voters, and 8,942 individuals above 85 years old.
The electoral landscape witnesses a showdown between BJP's Kriti Devi Debbarman and INDIA bloc's Rajendra Reang, a former CPI(M) MLA, among a field of nine candidates.
The constituency boasts 1,664 polling stations spread across 30 assembly segments, including 61 model polling stations and 67 women-managed ones, ensuring accessibility and efficiency in the voting process.
Importantly, 16,260 Bru voters dispersed across different locales will also exercise their franchise in the parliamentary contest.
In anticipation of the electoral event, authorities have meticulously arranged basic amenities such as drinking water, power supply, specially-abled ramps, toilets, and shelters at all polling centers.
The Returning Officer, Saju Vaheed, affirmed that nearly 60 percent of polling parties have departed for their designated booths, armed with essential election paraphernalia like EVMs and VVPATs.
Security measures have been bolstered to safeguard the sanctity of the electoral process, with provisions for live webcasting in all 1,664 polling stations.
Despite minor hiccups, including 18 complaints from various political factions, officials have swiftly addressed 14 grievances, underscoring the commitment to uphold fairness and transparency.
