A truck driver who crashed into BJP state president V D Sharma’s SUV in Bhopal was arrested after a dramatic 148-kilometer chase across Madhya Pradesh on Thursday night.
The driver, Ajay Malviya, was heavily drunk and damaged several police vehicles, broke through barricades, and injured officers before being caught at Udankhedi toll plaza near Pachor in Rajgarh district.
The incident began around 9:30 pm in the Lalghati area of Bhopal when Malviya, who was returning to Shujalpur after delivering onions in Kolkata, hit Sharma’s SUV. Instead of stopping, he sped away towards Narsinghgarh.
Sharma’s security team alerted the police, who set up barricades in Gandhi Nagar to stop him. However, Malviya broke through the barriers and even tried to run over two police officers.
Despite multiple attempts to stop him, the chase continued across different police jurisdictions before he was finally apprehended. Police have registered five FIRs against him for his reckless actions.
