TTD approves recovery of losses from missing ornament components, eases SRIVANI funding norms and plans global expansion with overseas temples.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board has taken a series of significant decisions, including approving the recovery of losses related to missing stones and components from temple ornaments, easing financial norms under the SRIVANI Trust, and initiating plans to expand its presence internationally.
As part of its decisions, the Board permitted officials to officially record attrition in Srivari ornaments identified during inspections and directed that losses be recovered from staff members found responsible. Around Rs 2.33 lakh is to be recovered from officials linked to missing stones and components from ornaments belonging to presiding deities across 81 TTD-affiliated temples during 2024–25. Authorities have been given a six-month deadline to complete the recovery process.

In a major policy shift, the Board removed the existing cap of Rs 2 crore on financial assistance provided through the SRIVANI Trust. Funds can now be extended to temples in Andhra Pradesh and other states, including for the construction of temples not under the Endowments Department and for the renovation of ancient temples. However, a mandatory contribution of 25 per cent from the public has been stipulated for such projects.

The Board also deliberated on expanding TTD’s global footprint. An expert committee has proposed the registration of non-profit organisations in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the Netherlands to establish temples under TTD management. Officials have been directed to seek the necessary approvals from the Centre to proceed with these plans.

Separately, the Board approved the purchase of 240 stainless steel containers from the Salem-based Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), valued at over Rs 23 lakh. These containers will be used for transporting and distributing ghee after mandatory quality checks.

In another development, TTD announced a new documentary project titled ‘Miracles of Tirumala-Tirupati’, aimed at showcasing the sacred traditions, rituals, and devotional experiences associated with the renowned Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. The first part of the documentary is being produced by AVS Studios Private Limited, based in Indore.

The documentary will primarily focus on the ten-day annual Brahmotsavam festival, one of the most significant religious events conducted by TTD, capturing scenes of thousands of devotees chanting “Govinda, Govinda” along the sacred Mada streets. It will also highlight the temple’s rich history, daily Kainkaryams (ritual services), long-standing traditions, and devotional music, with a special emphasis on the spiritual experiences of pilgrims during darshan.

Envisioned as a multi-part series, future episodes are expected to delve into the mythological legends of Lord Venkateswara, the architectural grandeur of the temple complex, and its enduring socio-cultural impact. The documentary is slated for release on OTT platforms, with all broadcasting rights retained by TTD.

The initiative is expected to broaden the global reach of Tirumala’s spiritual message and cultural heritage, bringing its traditions closer to audiences worldwide.
