TTD Trust Board Chairman B.R. Naidu and other officials take possession of a 10-acre plot for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara temple at Amerigog village in Kamrup Metropolitan district of Assam on Tuesday.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has officially taken possession of 10.33 acres of land in Assam for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Guwahati, marking a significant step in its plan to establish Srivari temples in state capitals across India.

According to an official release issued on Tuesday, the Assam government allotted the land in the Sonapur Circle of Kamrup district for the proposed temple project. The handover of the land follows discussions between TTD officials and representatives of the Assam government on the development of the temple.

TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu said the temple body had formally taken possession of the land allotted by the Assam government and would soon begin preparations for construction.

The project forms part of TTD’s broader initiative to establish Sri Venkateswara temples in major state capitals across the country, enabling devotees outside Andhra Pradesh to have greater access to places of worship dedicated to Lord Venkateswara.

Senior TTD officials, led by B.R. Naidu, had earlier held consultations with Assam government representatives regarding the temple project. The initiative also received support from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the TTD Trust Board through official communications, the release said.

On Tuesday, the Assam Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner formally handed over the land possession certificate to TTD, paving the way for the next phase of the project.

B.R. Naidu said the Bhoomi Puja for the temple construction would be performed shortly. Further details regarding the design, cost and timeline of the project are expected to be announced in due course.

The proposed temple is expected to serve devotees from Assam and the wider Northeast region, while strengthening cultural and spiritual links between the Northeast and Andhra Pradesh.
