Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar has attracted over 100,000 visitors in just two weeks since it was thrown open to the public by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on March 17.

After recording a moderate rush of 5,000 to 6,000 visitors per day initially, the garden is now witnessing 10,000 to 15,000 visitors daily, officials said. The majority of visitors are locals and domestic tourists. The footfall has increased significantly after the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan and the Eid festivities.

Located at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range, the garden features more than 1.8 million tulips of over 70 varieties.

According to estimates, offline ticket sales have surged, with the total visitor count nearing the 140,000 mark.

Director of Floriculture Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, said, “There is a unique pattern that has developed since the opening of the garden. During weekends and holidays, the rush increases manifold to at least 20,000–25,000 visitors, while on normal days it ranges between 10,000 and 15,000 visitors. The overall trend is rising sharply as we are set to see the full blooming of tulips. We expect record-breaking numbers this year like last year.”

Known as the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, it attracted more than 855,000 visitors in 2025. Official statistics show that over 672,000 visitors came within the first 20 days of its opening last year.
