Asia’s largest tulip garden in Srinagar has recorded nearly 60,000 visitors within the first week of its opening in Jammu and Kashmir, signalling the start of the spring and tourism season, officials said.
According to officials, the figure is based on offline ticket sales recorded during the first week. On Tuesday, the total reached almost 60,000, driven by a massive rush during the Eid festivities.
Online ticket data is still being compiled and will be released once the season concludes.
The heavy footfall has largely been attributed to local visitors who thronged the garden during Eid, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Additionally, a large number of domestic tourists from different parts of the country visited, along with 200 to 300 foreign tourists, since the garden opened.
Although rainfall and a slight return of cold weather slightly affected turnout, officials expect visitor numbers to surge further as conditions improve.
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden experienced a record-breaking season in 2025, attracting over "8.55 lakh (855,125) visitors during its 30-day opening period."
This was a significant jump from the 2024 season, which saw over "4.46 lakh visitors".
The garden, recognised as Asia’s largest, features more than 1.7 million tulips and continues to draw strong daily footfall.
