The Tulip Garden in Kashmir has welcomed nearly 80,000 visitors in the 10 days since it opened to the public on March 16. The garden recorded a whopping 48,000 visitors over the three days of Eid-ul-Fitr, with the majority being locals celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
This year, the garden opened 10 days earlier than last year and features 1.8 million tulip bulbs, which have drawn massive crowds. Officials also planted an additional one lakh spring flowers, including daffodils, hyacinths and roses.
According to official figures, the garden recorded a record 855,125 visitors in 2025. The rush continued on the 10th day, with large numbers of domestic travellers visiting the garden, located at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range.
Director of Floriculture, Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, said the total had crossed the 75,000–80,000 mark, based on offline ticket sales. Figures for online sales will be compiled and released once the garden closes for the season. Besides locals and domestic visitors, 161 foreign tourists have also visited the garden in the first 10 days.
"The footfall of visitors is increasing with each passing day. The number has gone up from around 5,000 visitors to above 10,000–15,000 visitors now,” she said.
