Two Class 11 students have been detained after allegedly shooting a classmate with a licensed pistol. The incident was reported at a posh housing society in Gurugram on Saturday night.
The victim, 17, is currently in a critical condition and receiving treatment at a private hospital, as per the police statement on Sunday.
The weapon reportedly belonged to the father of one of the accused. A case has been registered.
As per the preliminary investigation, the accused attacked the victim following a previous quarrel. Three of them study together in the same school.
The victim’s mother filed a complaint with the Sadar Police Station.
The victim's mother told police that the main suspect, whose father’s pistol was used, called and persistently asked her son to meet him. Although the victim initially refused, he eventually agreed. The accused later arrived at the victim's home to pick him up. Upon reaching the victim’s flat, the teenager found a second friend of the accused already present. It was then that the main suspect allegedly shot the victim with his father's licensed weapon.
Police recovered a significant cache of ammunition from a box found inside the apartment, including one pistol, a magazine, five live cartridges, and one empty shell. Additionally, a separate magazine containing 65 live cartridges was also seized.
