Two Gurugram police personnel were killed and another was seriously hurt after a water tanker crashed into a police Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) near Kheda Khurmupur in Farrukhnagar late on Monday night.
The deceased had been identified as Head Constables Chhotelal and Anil. Constable Dharmendra, who was driving the ERV, suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Police said the three officers were on patrol in ERV-254 when the water tanker, coming from the opposite direction, hit their vehicle at around 11.50 pm.
The collision severely damaged the police vehicle. Chhotelal and Anil died at the accident scene, while Dharmendra was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
After being alerted, police reached the accident site and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered against the driver of the tanker.
According to senior police officials, the tanker was attached to a tractor and was parked at the spot without lights or reflectors. Investigators believe this may have prevented the ERV driver from noticing it in time. The investigation is ongoing.
