In a tragic accident near Madhopur in Punjab’s Pathankot district, two Delhi residents lost their lives and four others sustained serious injuries when their car overturned early morning on Saturday.
The vehicle, a Delhi-registered Toyota Innova (DL 10 CX 8104), was travelling from Delhi to Srinagar with six occupants on board when it lost control and veered off the road near Madhopur.
The deceased have been identified as Sushil Kumar and Naresh Kumar, both residents of Delhi. Local residents who were present near the accident site, rushed to the scene to rescue the victims. Unfortunately, both victims were declared dead on the spot. Their bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital, Pathankot, for post-mortem. The other four passengers were severely injured and had been admitted to different hospitals in Pathankot.
Initial investigations by the Sujanpur police suggest the accident may have occurred after the driver reportedly dozed off at the wheel, leading to the loss of control and the accident. A detailed investigation into the incident is currently underway.
