A man and his nephew died of suspected asphyxiation inside a parked truck at a factory here, police said on Saturday. The incident took place in Bhattian village near Machhiwara town, around 40 km from Ludhiana district.
Police said truck driver Chhotu Ram (40) and his nephew Shri Bhagwan (20) had come to the factory to load refined oil.
Initial findings suggest that the two lit a brazier inside the truck to keep warm, which may have caused asphyxiation, said Station House Officer (SHO) Pavitr Singh.
The factory’s security officer found the bodies on Friday after the men failed to respond from inside the truck, he said. Police have launched a probe, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination to the civil hospital in Samrala.
