Two jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were killed, and two policemen injured, in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Saturday.
The incident occurred at around noon near Kodliyar village in the Abujhmaad area during a joint anti-Naxal operation.
The operation, involving ITBP, Border Security Force (BSF), and District Reserve Guard personnel, was launched from the Orchha, Irakbhatti, and Mohandi areas.
The blast took place while the patrolling teams were returning from the operation.
"Two ITBP personnel succumbed to injuries, while the condition of the injured policemen is out of danger," a police official confirmed.
The fallen ITBP soldiers were identified as Amar Panwar, 36, from Maharashtra’s Satara district, and K. Rajesh, 36, from Karnataka’s Kadappa district. Both were part of the ITBP’s 53rd battalion.
