Punjab Police have arrested two wanted operatives with links to the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) after they were deported from Malaysia, a senior official said on Friday.

The two accused, Gurwinder Singh from Ambala and Manjeet Singh from Patiala, were deported with the help of Punjab Police, central agencies and the Royal Malaysia Police. They arrived in Delhi on Wednesday.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the two men were important members of a KZF-backed terror network operating from Malaysia. The module was allegedly involved in targeting key railway infrastructure in Punjab, including the Dedicated Freight Corridor.

According to the DGP, Punjab Police arrested the duo at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi soon after their arrival. They were later taken to Punjab for further questioning.

Earlier, Punjab Police had dismantled the terror module linked to an IED blast on the Railway Freight Corridor near Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib on January 23. The group was also allegedly behind an attempted blast on the same rail corridor near Shambhu in Patiala on April 27.

During the probe, police arrested four people connected to the case. They also recovered a large quantity of weapons and explosives, including an RPG launcher, an IED, RDX, hand grenades and sophisticated pistols with ammunition.

DGP Yadav said "Subsequent investigations into the transnational conspiracy uncovered the involvement of KZF handlers and financial facilitators operating from Malaysia. The deported accused were found to be instrumental in channelling terror funds through offshore accounts to KZF operatives in Punjab, facilitating plans to execute terrorist attacks and disturb peace and public order in the state.”

"Both accused were produced before the competent court in Patiala on June 18 and have been remanded to police custody for further interrogation. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the broader network and identify all individuals involved in the conspiracy," he added.
