Two persons lost their lives while another sustained serious injuries after a car fell into a deep gorge in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday morning, police officials said.
The victims were travelling from Kupvi in Shimla district to Baddi in Solan district when the accident occurred near Charna village in the Noharadhar area under Sangrah sub-division, around 110 km from Nahan.
As per Sangrah police, three people were inside the vehicle. The car reportedly went out of control and plunged into a deep gorge at around 3 am on Saturday. Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, Nishchit Singh Negi said two passengers died on the spot, while the driver suffered serious injuries. After receiving information, police teams rushed to the location and recovered the bodies from the gorge.
The injured driver, identified as Vipin Kumar, was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Gulshan, a resident of Jharkhand, and Naresh Kumar from Shimla district.
Police said the bodies have been taken to Civil Hospital, Rajgarh, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. An FIR has been registered at Sangrah police station and further investigation into the accident is underway, officials added.
