Two fresh FIRs have been registered against the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Gawar Construction Company for alleged negligence in ongoing construction work in Shimla.
Residents from Chamiana, whose houses have been affected, filed the complaints at the Dhalli Police Station. They alleged that unscientific and careless construction practices by the company have put their homes at serious risk.
The residents further claimed that they had raised concerns with NHAI and company officials multiple times over the past year, warning them about the structural dangers. However, no meaningful action was taken to address the issue.
Acting on these complaints, the police have now registered formal cases against both NHAI and the construction firm.
Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway.
These latest FIRs follow an earlier case filed by Ranjana Verma, whose multi-storey house collapsed on Monday — allegedly due to similar negligent construction practices by the same company.
