The security forces have arrested two militants from Manipur's Imphal East district, the Police informed on Wednesday.
A self-styled Lieutenant of the proscribed Peoples' Liberation Army was apprehended from Yaingangpokpi Bazar on Tuesday. He has been identified as Ningthoujam Ibungocha alias Sathouba Meitei (38). Another member of the outfit, identified as Athokpam Manaoton Meitei (42), was arrested in Sawombung.
In another operation, security forces recovered arms and ammunition along Ngairangbam Tanoukhul Road in Imphal West district. Among them were a double-barrel gun, a country-made pistol along with a magazine, 181 bullets of different calibres, three magazines, two hand-grenades and a detonator.
Meanwhile, this week, the security forces have arrested four militants, including a woman, belonging to different proscribed outfits in Manipur. Two insurgents belonging to the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) outfit were apprehended in the Jagnoi area in Tengnoupal district near the international border with Myanmar on Sunday, a police statement said.
One active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon) outfit was arrested in the Sawombung area in Imphal East district on Monday, it said.
A 26-year-old woman cadre of the KCP (Apunba) outfit was apprehended in Taothong Khunou in Imphal West district on Monday, it added.
