Two women pilgrims from Punjab were hurt after falling from horses while returning from Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand on Tuesday, police said. The injured women were taken to Govindghat by helicopter for better treatment.
The devotees, identified as Devinder Kaur and Kuljinder Kaur from Ludhiana, were travelling from Ghangaria to Govindghat on horses after offering prayers at the gurdwara. They reportedly fell near Ramdhungi and suffered injuries, police added.
After getting information about the incident, police rescue teams rushed to the spot. The women were given primary treatment before being shifted to the helipad and airlifted to Govindghat for further medical care.
Meanwhile, several parts of Himachal Pradesh are facing intense heat, with a weather alert issued for eight districts on Tuesday. Authorities have advised people to stay cautious as temperatures continue to rise in many areas of the state.
