In a key political shift ahead of the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll, senior Shiromani Akali Dal leaders Rajinder Deepa and Sarbjot Singh Sabi joined the Congress on Monday.
The leaders were formally inducted into the party at the Punjab Congress Bhawan in the presence of Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring, senior leaders Partap Singh Bajwa, Bhupesh Baghel, and other prominent members.
Rajinder Deepa’s switch is particularly notable as he is the brother-in-law of Punjab AAP president and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, adding weight to the Congress’s move.
Party sources described the development as a strategic boost ahead of the June 19 bypoll, with both leaders enjoying substantial support in their respective constituencies. Congress insiders also hinted at more high-profile inductions in the days to come.
