Two women killed, 3 injured in car–truck collision in East Delhi

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhaniya said the impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car completely mangled. Two occupants, identified as Deepanjali (38) and Neelam Garg (55), were found dead at the scene. One of the victims was flung out of the vehicle due to the force of the crash.

Two women lost their lives and three others, including two children, were injured after a car collided with a truck on National Highway 9 near the MCD toll plaza under the Ghazipur police jurisdiction in east Delhi on Thursday morning.
 
The accident occurred at 6:43 am in front of the Vinod Nagar depot when the car, carrying five passengers returning to Delhi, crashed into the truck. A PCR call reporting the incident was received by the Ghazipur police, following which a team rushed to the spot and alerted the Delhi Fire Services.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhaniya said the impact of the collision was severe, which left the car completely mangled. Two occupants, identified as Deepanjali (38) and Neelam Garg (55), were found dead. One of the victims was flung out of the vehicle due to the force of the crash.

 


The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for post-mortem.
 
The injured were identified as Deepanshu Garg, who was driving the car, and two children, Vivaan (5) and Vashu (3). They were taken to Max Hospital for treatment and are stated to be in stable condition.
 
Preliminary investigation suggested that the car may have lost control due to over-speeding. However, officials said the exact cause of the accident would be determined after a detailed probe. CCTV footage from the area is being examined as part of the investigation.
 
A case has been registered, and traffic movement on the affected stretch of NH-9 has since been restored.
