Two boys have gone missing in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, which has recently seen the mysterious deaths of five civilians, prompting an official investigation.
According to police, 15-year-old Deen, also known as Dinu, and his 12-year-old relative Rehmat Ali went missing on February 27 after they went to graze cattle in Bhamberwan.
To find the boys, police teams have been formed, and their photos are being shared to gather information. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shiv Kumar Sharma has directed officers to coordinate with other districts, deras, and the boys’ relatives in Punjab, Jammu, and Udhampur. He also met with the families and assured them that all possible efforts are being made to locate them.
Kathua has been in the spotlight due to recent deaths in the region. On March 9, the bodies of 15-year-old Varun Singh, his paternal uncle Yogesh Singh (32), and maternal uncle Darshan Singh (40) were found in Ishu nullah in Malhar, a remote area in the district. The three had been missing since March 5.
Last month, two other men, Shamsher (37) and Roshan (45), were found dead in Kohag village in Kathua. Their postmortem reports indicated they were strangled.

The recent deaths led to a heated debate in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that an investigation is ongoing and discussing the matter in the House would not be appropriate.
On Sunday, Union Minister Jitendra Singh suggested that terrorists might be behind the killings in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district. He expressed concern over the attack, calling it an attempt to disrupt peace in the region. His remarks came after protests and a shutdown were observed in the area.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a thorough investigation into the killings.
