Uttarakhand CM Dhami visits hospital, meet patients suffering from food poisoning.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Coronation Hospital on Monday to assess the condition of patients who fell ill after consuming buckwheat flour suspected to be adulterated.

The incident has affected over 100 people in Dehradun district, prompting swift action from authorities. The flour, reportedly supplied from Saharanpur, is believed to be the cause of widespread food poisoning.

During his visit, CM Dhami interacted with the patients, inquired about their health, and assured them of all necessary medical support.

He directed the District Magistrate of Dehradun and Health Department officials to ensure proper treatment for all affected individuals, emphasising that additional hospital beds should be arranged if required. At present, 66 patients are receiving treatment at Coronation Hospital, while 44 have been admitted to Doon Medical College.

Taking immediate action, the state administration sealed the shop from which the contaminated buckwheat flour was distributed. Notices were also issued to all other establishments that had received supplies from the same source.

He emphasised that accountability would be enforced, and any negligence in ensuring food quality would not be tolerated.

CM Dhami further directed the Health Secretary to oversee the investigation and ensure that strict punitive action is taken against those found guilty of compromising food safety.
