UAE-based social media influencer Khalid Al Ameri, who is currently visiting Kashmir, has been left speechless by the mesmerising winter beauty of the Valley.

The Stanford graduate, who has nearly 18 million followers across platforms, described his hours-long journey from Dubai to Kashmir as a truly enthralling experience.

Heavy snowfall since last week has blanketed most of Kashmir, including top tourist destinations such as Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam, transforming the region into a winter paradise and ending a prolonged dry spell that had persisted since November.

Al Ameri, who has spent the past few days in Kashmir, shared multiple videos on social media capturing his experiences. In one clip, he is seen wearing a traditional Kashmiri pheran during a shikara ride on Dal Lake.

In another video, he took a “snow bath” in Gulmarg, where daytime temperatures have remained close to freezing due to the heavy snowfall.

In a Facebook post, he wrote, “Around four hours of travelling from Dubai is a snowy paradise filled with beauty beyond imagination, Masha Allah.” Al Ameri said he has been deeply moved by the hospitality and generosity of Kashmiris. He praised the region’s deeper cultural beauty, writing on LinkedIn: “Kashmir’s beauty goes much deeper than what we usually see in pictures or videos. Spending time here, I realised its true beauty isn’t just in the landscapes but in how tradition is lived every day.

“Wearing a pheran by Dal Lake offered me a glimpse into a culture preserved through practice, patience, and pride, passed down across generations, even as the world changes around it,” he said.

He added, “Meaningful places aren’t defined only by how they look but by how they live. And often, the most important details are the ones that don’t translate through a lens.

“There’s a calm in Kashmir that goes beyond its landscapes. It’s in the stillness, the unhurried pace, and the space it creates to think clearly. Moments like these teach us an important lesson: that progress doesn’t always come from doing more but from stepping back and realigning yourself,” he said.
