The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a warning to students, parents, and educational institutions about a fabricated notice circulating on social media, falsely claiming that all exams are cancelled due to a “war situation” and advising students to return home.
The UGC took to Twitter to clarify that a fake public notice was being spread under its name, which claimed that all exams were being cancelled in light of the ongoing war situation and urged students to return home.
“This notice is fake,” the UGC emphasised, adding that students should rely solely on official social media channels and the UGC website for authentic information. The commission also issued a stern warning, stating that spreading such misinformation is a punishable offence.

This clarification comes in response to a surge of rumours and misinformation circulating on social media following India’s military operation, ‘Operation Sindoor’.
While some precautionary measures have been implemented, such as Kashmir University deferring its exams, no nationwide cancellation of exams has been announced.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) is actively working to combat false claims, and the UGC has reiterated that all official announcements will be shared through authorised channels.
Students are advised to continue their preparations for exams according to the original schedules unless they receive any official notification to the contrary.
