Union Food Processing Industries Minister, Chirag Paswan, on Monday indicated that he hopes to have a 'larger role' to play in Bihar and contest the assembly elections. During an interview, Chirag Paswan revealed that he "sees himself in Bihar."
The Union Minister stated, "I visualise myself more from Bihar now. When we speak of the 'role', there are many questions over it. My role would be to develope state."
Stating his desire to fight the elections, he said that the dream of 'Bihar First, Bihari First' cannot be completed by being a part of the Central government.
"I would like to contest in the Bihar Assembly Elections. Having lived in Delhi and worked in Mumbai, I have seen how Biharis are compelled to lead a miserable life in other states. I wanted to come back to Bihar so that its people could live a better life. 'Bihar First, Bihari First' cannot happen at the Centre, I will have to go back to Bihar," he stated.
Pawan, however, indicated that his party, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has not yet decided if he would contest the Assembly poll.

"There is a question mark because the party is yet to decide on it. There is a discussion within the party about whether the party will benefit from my contesting the elections. Most of the parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party, have tried this experiment when MPs and Union Ministers have fought the Assembly elections. At times, it has happened that if a major leader fights the elections, the entire system of the party goes into organising their election, it might act against the party," he added.
There have been rumours surrounding Chirag Paswan's involvement in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. This began when, in June, while addressing a rally in Bihar, Paswan announced that he would contest the ensuing Bihar Assembly polls. Addressing a public gathering in Arrah, Paswan declared that his party would support the NDA in all 243 assembly seats to ensure its victory.
"For those who ask where I shall contest, I would like to inform you that my party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and myself will contest on 243 seats to ensure NDA candidates' victory and give a boost to the NDA alliance. My aim is that the NDA heads for victory," Paswan added.
Rejecting the rumours that he is aspiring for the Chief Ministerial position, the LJP (Ram Vilas) party chief expressed that Nitish Kumar shall continue to be the alliance's leader in the State. Speaking to the media, "My faith is on CM Nitish Kumar. Bihar people refer to him as 'sushasan babu'," he added.
