Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta on Monday inspected the ongoing construction of the four-lane road at Nauni Junction in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.
He directed officials to carry out immediate repairs on damaged stretches leading to Shimla to ensure smooth movement of vehicles.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the progress of works at Nauni Chowk Junction and sought detailed updates from officials. He also discussed the status of land acquisition under the project and the difficulties being faced by local people, officials said.
Tamta further took stock of the damage caused to the four-lane road by the recent heavy rains in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur Rahul Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rajdeep Singh, Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India and other officials accompanied him during the inspection.
