Rs 100 cr for Mahakumbh, funds for Ramayan, vedic research centre in UP budget

The Uttar Pradesh government's FY25 budget unveiled a Rs 100 crore allocation for organising Mahakumbh-2025 and funding initiatives in Ayodhya. 

 

Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced the budget, highlighting key allocations.

 

Among the provisions are Rs 14.68 crore for the Nishad Raj Guha Cultural Centre, Shringverpur, Rs 11.79 crore for a music college in Hariharpur, Azamgarh, and Rs 10.53 crore for the Maharishi Valmiki Cultural Centre in Chitrakoot.

 

Notably, Rs 10 crore has been proposed for the International Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute in Ayodhya. 

 

Khanna emphasised the importance of cultural heritage, citing the success of "Deepotsav" in Ayodhya and the development works in various tourist destinations.

 

The budget also highlighted the significant increase in tourist footfall, with over 37.9 crore tourists in Uttar Pradesh from January to October 2023. 

 

The 'Chief Minister Tourism Development Partnership Scheme' aims to develop one tourist destination in each assembly constituency.

 

Khanna credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for prioritising cultural heritage. 

 

The beautification of the route from Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the Ganga River, as well as ongoing development around Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, are part of this cultural revitalization.

 

The expansion and beautification of the route from Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the Ganga River have significantly increased the number of devotees. 

 

In anticipation of increased tourists visiting Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, infrastructure development, including widening, beautification of access roads and parking facilities, is underway at six major locations in the town.
