Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the Housing and Urban Planning Department to roll out a new 'One-Time Settlement' (OTS) scheme to finally clear the backlog of disputed and unpaid residential and commercial allotments. During a review meeting on Wednesday, the CM pointed out that these lingering disputes aren't just hurting the state’s revenue— they are a massive headache for regular citizens who are stuck in legal or financial limbo.

The upcoming OTS-2026 is essentially a second chance for thousands of people. While a similar scheme was launched in 2020, many allottees hit a wall when the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, leaving them unable to keep up with their final payments. This time around, Adityanath wants the system to be "more practical," offering significant rebates for those who can pay in a lump sum, while still providing an installment option for those who can't.

The CM was clear about the ground rules: the process needs to be entirely online and transparent to prevent people from having to run from pillar to post.

By settling these old cases, the state expects a significant boost in revenue that can be funnelled back into new housing projects. Adityanath has told officials to pull out all the stops on publicity so that no eligible beneficiary misses out on the window when the scheme officially opens.
