In a fresh crime case with unique contours of modus operandi in the national capital, Police discovered charred body of a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant found in a flat in his Timarpur who was murdered by the live in partner. Three days after this, Delhi Police said Sunday they have arrested three people, including his live-in partner and her former boyfriend, in connection with the murder.
According to the police, Ram Kesh Meena was strangled to death and his body was burnt by staging a cylinder blast at his flat to make it look like an accident by his live-in partner and her ex-boyfriend. The reason: the deceased allegedly had obscene videos of the woman.
The details reveal that a UPSC aspirant was allegedly murdered by his live-in partner, and her ex-boyfriend in Delhi in a manner that is no less than a film or web series. And the plan was hatched in a filmy manner by the woman who is a student of forensic sciences. The Delhi police has now solved the case, and the details of it are out. Three individuals have been arrested – Amrita Chauhan (21), Sumit Kashyap (27), and Sandeep Kumar (29), all residents of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The cops came to know about the crime after they received information about a fire incident in the flat due to AC blast on October 6. Fire tenders doused the blaze and after searching the apartment, a charred body of a person was found. The probe revealed it was of a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant, Ram Kesh Meena.“Initially, a case was registered under relevant provisions and investigation was launched,” the police said.
As the probe intensified, the police checked the CCTV footage of the area and saw two men, with their faces covered, entering the building on October 5 and 6 at 2:57 am, reported by a news agency. Later, they left along with a woman.
Shortly after they left, the fire broke out in the flat. The police got suspicious and added further sections in the FIR to widen the angle of the investigation. The family of the deceased also raised suspicions over the incident. The girl coming out from the flat was later identified as 21-year-old, BSc in Forensic Science student – Amrita Chauhan, the live-in partner of the deceased.
The cops then analysed the CDR data of Amrita’s number, which revealed that at the time of the incident, the location of her mobile phone was found near E-Block Gandhi Vihar, Delhi – the crime spot.After multiple raids in Moradabad, police arrested Amrita on October 18. During further interrogation, she confessed to committing the crime along with co-accused Sumit Kashyap, her ex-boyfriend, and Sandeep Kumar.
Police recovered the hard disc, a trolley bag, and a shirt of the deceased. Sumit Kashyap was arrested on October 21, along with his mobile phone used during the crime, and Sandeep Kumar was apprehended on October 23, the news agency report added.
Amrita claimed that Meena had a hard disc containing obscene videos and images of her and despite several requests, he was not ready to delete the same. Irritated, Amrita shared this with her ex-boyfriend, Sumit Kashyap. He consulted Sandeep Kumar, and tighter, they stitched a plan to murder Meena.
Amrita, being a forensic sciences student, planned the crime in a way to make it look like an incident, where no traces could be found. And hence the fire.They entered the flat on the intervening night of October 5-6, and strangulated and beat Meena. They later poured oil, ghee, and wine over his body so that it would catch fire immediately. Sumit worked as an LPG distributor. He opened a gas cylinder’s valve and set it on fire, leading to an explosion. The trio fled with the victim’s laptop. hard disk and other materials.
