UPSC returns Telangana DGP contender's list over spelling errors

The state government had submitted the list as the current DGP, Dr Jitender, is set to retire in September.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has returned the list of candidates for the post of Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) due to spelling mistakes. The state government had submitted the list as the current DGP, Dr Jitender, is set to retire in September.

The list of contenders includes several senior police officers. Among them are Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, Ravi Gupta Apte Vinayak Prabhakar, Kothakota Srinivasa Reddy, B Shivadhar Reddy, Soumya Mishra, and Shikha Goel. The state government is now working to correct the errors and will resubmit the list to the UPSC.

The UPSC announced the results of the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 on June 11. The preliminary exam was held on May 25, 2025, and the main examination is scheduled to take place on August 22, 2025.

 

Earlier, aspirants from Telangana who cleared Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2025 held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and preparing for the Main examination, were provided with ₹1 lakh financial assistance under Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham launched by the State government.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasised that Telangana should aim to have the highest number of candidates selected into the All India Services. He added that the Congress-led state government is committed to supporting aspirants by providing financial assistance to those who have qualified for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Mains.

 

"The role of the bureaucracy is vital in upholding democratic values, and the CSE offers a unique opportunity to improve people's living conditions," the deputy CM said. He was speaking after distributing financial aid of ₹1 lakh each to 178 candidates who have qualified for the CSE (Mains) from Telangana.
