Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath isn't just asking for more boots on the ground; he’s calling for a high-tech overhaul of how Uttar Pradesh handles crime. Speaking at the "Police Manthan" conference on Sunday, he told senior officers it is time to deploy artificial intelligence and sophisticated financial tracking to tear down what he described as internationally funded religious conversion networks. The CM’s message was clear: the force needs to stay ahead of the curve by using modern resources to curb organised rackets that are increasingly moving into the digital and financial shadows.
The safety of the state’s borders was a major focal point of the two-day summit. The increasing threats on the borders of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal were pointed out by Adityanath to be closely monitored by the police and intelligence agencies. He particularly referred to what happened in Balrampur and identified it as a "red flag," showing planned and forceful conversions to be intercepted at the earliest opportunity. Aside from border protection strategies for terrorism and drug smuggling, there is now a "zero-tolerance zone," according to the Chief Minister, in fighting these activities when it involves "the scrutiny of financial trails."
On the digital front, the Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the rise of deepfakes, disinformation, and the dark web. He instructed the police to be relentless in identifying and shutting down fake social media accounts that are designed to stir up caste-based or communal friction. Interestingly, he also warned of a trend where anti-social elements misuse the names of "eminent personalities" to create new organisations and cause disorder. He told the officers to dig deep into the backgrounds of these groups and dismantle their networks without hesitation.
Ultimately, the goal is to prevent any attempts to divide society or create anarchy. Adityanath praised the work done by the police so far but insisted that intelligence gathering must become more proactive.
