Girls performed better than boys in the Uttarakhand board examinations, the results of which were declared on Saturday. The state also recorded an increase in pass percentages in both Class 10 and Class 12, officials said.
Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat released the results at the board headquarters in Ramnagar, Nainital. He said the Class 12 pass percentage rose to 85.11 per cent, showing an improvement of 1.88 per cent compared to last year.
“The hard work of teachers and students is clearly visible in these results,” Rawat said. He congratulated the successful students and also spoke to the toppers over the phone.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the students who passed the examinations. He said the results reflected their dedication and discipline. He encouraged students who could not meet expectations to stay positive and continue working hard. “With patience and positive thinking, success will surely come,” Dhami said in an official statement.
A total of 1,00,452 students appeared for the Class 12 examinations, out of which 85,499 cleared the exams. Girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.09 per cent, higher than the 81.93 per cent achieved by boys, as per the Uttarakhand Board of School Education.
Geetika Pant from Bageshwar and Sushila Mehndiratta from Udham Singh Nagar jointly topped the intermediate examinations with 98 per cent marks.
Geetika, whose father works as a taxi driver, said she wants to become an engineer and serve society. Despite financial challenges, she had earlier topped her district in Class 10 with 97.6 per cent marks.
“If you have family support and good teachers guiding you, lack of resources does not matter,” Geetika said. Her mother, Ritika Pant, said she always encouraged her daughter to dream big despite limited means.
Aryan from Rishikesh secured the second rank with 97.80 per cent marks, while Vanshika from Haridwar stood third with 97 per cent. In the high school examinations, the overall pass percentage increased by 1.33 per cent compared to last year. Out of 1,08,983 students who appeared, 1,00,373 successfully passed the exams. Girls achieved a pass percentage of 96.07 per cent, significantly higher than the boys’ 88.03 per cent.
Akshat Gopal from Ramnagar topped the high school examination with 98.20 per cent marks. Ishant Kothari from Uttarkashi and Bhumika from Nainital jointly secured the second position with 98 per cent marks. Yogesh Joshi from Bageshwar finished third with 97.80 per cent.
Bageshwar district emerged as the best-performing district in the state. It recorded a pass percentage of 94.84 per cent in intermediate examinations and 96.98 per cent in high school results.
The board also announced the results of the 2025 secondary improvement examinations. The pass percentage stood at 68.67 per cent for high school improvement exams and 66.27 per cent for intermediate improvement exams.
Later, Education Minister Rawat visited the residence of high school topper Akshat Gopal in Ramnagar to felicitate him personally. Local MLA Diwan Singh Bisht and senior education department officials were also present during the result announcement programme.
